Valentina in Katya Katya London for her Italian Wedding Inspired by Pre-Raphaelite Art and The Victorian Era

Large pastel romantic wedding bouquet

Valentina and Giampiero’s exquisite wedding Italian was held on 10th September last year

The couple exchanged vows on a stage at the Municipal Theater of Monforte d’Alba in Italy, in front of guests seated in rows of traditional theatre seats, after which, the wedding party headed to the Real Castello di Verduno hotel and restaurant for dining and partying.

The couple, who took great care to support artisan designers when finding suppliers, were inspired by Pre-Raphaelite art and the Victorian era and so Valentina was naturally drawn to the era inspired designs of Katya Katya London, who we’re delighted she discovered on Love My Dress.

A Katya Katya London Bridal Gown

We both wanted to wear vintage style clothes. I wore a Katya Katya London gown which was the perfect choice: a romantic, vintage style lace dress, which mixed design drama with and soft bohemian aesthetic.

My shoes were by Floredeasoka and I wore a headpiece by Guinevere Vines.

The Groom

For Giampiero’s suit, we shopped at a small Italian atelier that makes bespoke suits, called Maura Brandino.

Romantic Wedding Stationery

The beautifully hand-crafted wedding stationery was created by Studio Letteraventidue.

The Ceremony

My father walked me into the ceremony, to the sound of Dog days are over, by Florence and the Machine, played by a string quartet.

We had a Civil Ceremony accompanied by the Celtic ritual of Handfasting and we hired a celebrant to officiate our ceremony, from Unconventional Ceremony.

For the vows, we read each other Shakespeare’s Sonnet 18. This is our favourite part:

But thy eternal summer shall not fade,Nor lose possession of that fair thou owest;Nor shall Death brag thou wander’st in his shade,When in eternal lines to time thou grow’st:
So long as men can breathe or eyes can see,
So long lives this and this gives life to thee.

Our rings were from My Golden Age – we chose them because I wanted our wedding rings to be made by a small artisan goldsmith.

My favourite part of the day was the ceremony, because it was a unique and touching moment.

Photography

Our photographer was Tiziana Gallo – I have known Tiziana for many years and work as his second shooter. I love his photographic style, it is spontaneous, romantic and never predictable.

Reception, Detail & Decor

As favours for our guests, we provided Ladurèe sugared almonds gift box.

Our florists, Mutabilis, provided dreamy, delicate and ethereal floral arrangements, with a mix of roses, delphinums, cosmos and dahlias as the main flowers.

Our cake designer was Sweetlab – I chose a wonderful Victorian style piped cake, to give a sense of playfulness and decadence at the same time.

Stationery was designed and created by Studio Letteraventidue.

How They Met

We met eighteen years ago in high school, which seems like a lifetime now. We got together in our last year of school when we were just nineteen.

We grew up together and lived together for five years before getting married.
