Rosie and Iain’s autumn wedding at Glenapp Castle in Ayrshire was a stunning blend of elegance, intimacy, and seasonal charm.
Rosie was the sheer embodiment of effortless sophistication in her Halfpenny London halterneck bridal gown, while the enchanting Scottish landscape served as a breathtaking backdrop for their romantic celebration.
Captured by the talented The Gibsons Photography, who we highly recommend, this wedding was designed to feel relaxed, intimate, and welcoming. Guests enjoyed a cosy weekend filled with seasonal blooms by the wonderfully talented Myrtle and Bracken, a menu celebrating local flavours, and a lively ceilidh that kept spirits high into the early hours. Enjoy!

The Ceremony
My dad walked me down the aisle to an acoustic version of ‘Love Somebody’.

Our Celebrant was Susan Mathieson. We didn’t tailor our vows due to me probably being too emotional on the day, I’m glad we didn’t though, as it turned out Iain was just as emotional and nervous as I was, haha!

My sister delivered a short reading and Iain’s sister wrote a personalised poem about our lives together so far and what the future might bring. It was very special.

Photography
We hired The Gibsons Photography – we had had friends that had them the year before our wedding and Iain’s sister had had them so we only heard such great reviews from them, again their photos are light, and I feel a lot of other wedding photographers can be too dark.
They were so organised and really easy to speak with, everything we had wanted photographed for the day was delivered and you never felt that their efforts got in the way on the day. We have such great pictures to keep and save. The other reason was having two photographers meant you got different parts of the day captured.

After the ceremony and photographs, Iain and I sat in the library room alone as everyone found their seats – it was the only real time of the day we spent alone and I think we were just so grateful for what a day we had already had and were so excited for evening, I in particular was very relaxed as I had no speaking to do!

Our videographers, Olive & Thistle, were such a last minute decision due to watching a friends video of her wedding video, however it was probably the best choice – both my gran’s ended up not being well the year of the wedding and couldn’t come, spending another afternoon with them and watching back the video was so special and a time I’ll never forget.
Many people say they don’t watch their wedding video’s again – however I would disagree – I’d say a wedding video is something you’ll keep and treasure forever – it’s a memory of voices and watching it, you really can ‘feel’ the emotions of the day all over again. Our videographers did a fantastic job. They were on time, and made edit’s to the music we wanted too.

How They Met
We met in December 2017 in oran mor bar in Glasgow through mutual friends. From there we were pretty much inseparable and I feel lockdown of 2020 brought as much closer and we got our Romanian dog Benji, we got engaged in 2021 during a Scottish highland gateway with our dog (the trips we love most) .
Kilts and menswear were from Slanj in Glasgow. They have a good choice of tartans – my husband’s family were all flying over from Australia too so they also rented from Slanj. They’re great to hire from – they make it really good to and easy to pick up/drop off.

Evening & Dancing
We hired the Foot Stompin’ Ceilidh Band and our first dance was to ‘Kiss Me’, by Sixpence None The Richer.
A favourite moment was in the evening – most of our guests had gone to bed but there were about ten of us who stayed up dancing until around 4am in the morning in the main hall of Glenapp. It was so much fun!

Words of Wedded Wisdom
I wish I’d have stressed less about everyone else and all the small details.
