It’s always a joy to share work that’s been created with such care, passion and purpose and especially when it features the talent of a Love My Dress recommended supplier. This evocative editorial was led by British bridal fashion designer Bronwen Bridge, in collaboration with photographer Alessandra of Arielinblue. It brings a fresh, fearless, modern energy to the Marie Antoinette aesthetic.

Inspired by historical silhouettes and a shared love of vintage glamour, this editorial brings together drama, texture and detail in the most beautiful way. Rowton Castle was the perfect setting – elegant, atmospheric, and just the right amount of theatrical.

Bridal fashion is treated here not as a trend to follow, but as a way of expressing something deeper – personality, presence, a sense of self. I hope it encourages you to take up space, trust your instincts and wear something that feels completely your own on your wedding day.

The concept came from Alessandra of Arielinblue Photography after we met at a wedding fair. We instantly connected over our shared love of vintage eras and historical influences and so, we thought it would be great to do a shoot together. Alessandra suggested a modern Marie Antoinette theme as the perfect way to showcase my pieces, and we ran with it.

From there, the vision evolved over months of voice notes, shared moodboards, and long chats about every last detail. Nothing was too much — that was kind of the point. We wanted it to feel indulgent, feminine, and impactful, but always with a contemporary attitude.

The Fashion

An Antidote to Throw-away Trends

For me, this idea sits at the heart of what I want to do as a designer. I have a real love for historical silhouettes, especially ones with ‘big’ presence  — I want to bring that feeling into the now.

You know when you look at an old building, or a beautifully structured vintage gown, and you feel like something about that slow, considered artistry has been lost in today’s world of instant content and throwaway trends? I think this shoot was a kind of antidote to that.

The main dress I designed for the shoot is called Reine, meaning “queen” in French. I began working on it straight away, keeping the exaggerated hip shape to link it to my Solenne Collection and to honour the historical inspiration.

I wanted to modernise the crinoline – a shape often associated with restriction, by making it just visible through layers of organza and soft tulle, transforming it into something that feels claimed by the wearer, rather than imposed on her.

I was also pouring over 1950s Vogue editorials at the time, which inspired the sharp, sculpted bust of the bodice – a nod to the ‘new look’ silhouette.

The oyster pink silk satin ties everything into the Marie Antoinette palette, but its soft, pearlescent quality keeps it feeling elevated and modern – I wanted to avoid the flatness of synthetic satins.

As a bespoke designer, I love working with people who put the same care and attention into their craft — and this team really did. From Joannah & Grace’s hand-crafted jewellery to Wild Ways’ incredible florals and the showstopping cake by My Beespoke Bakehouse, every detail was made with intention and heart for this shoot. Even the shoes, by Di Hassall, were handmade — a perfect fit for the world we were building.

I had been a bit worried about finding a hair and makeup artist who could strike the balance between natural beauty and the slightly theatrical edge we had in mind — but Bridal by Charley got it just right. Her look on Fern perfectly captured that modern bridal queen energy.

When we couldn’t find a stylist to pull everything together, we decided (somewhat madly!) to do it ourselves. I ordered 80 metres of fabric; lace, satin, velvet ribbon, and spent the week before the shoot draping, styling, and building our own little decadent world from scratch. The maximalist tablescape was brought to life with the final touches from Clink and Lucy March Studio, the crockery and stationery added just the right layer of detail.

We mostly didn’t all know each other beforehand, but it was such a joy to come together and create something so cohesive. I’m genuinely so grateful to everyone who brought their time and talent to this — you made it magic.

Rowton Castle turned out to be the perfect setting. It rained heavily in the morning, but just as we stepped outside, the sun came out and cast everything in that gorgeous summer light you always hope for but can’t plan. Inside, we created a boudoir-inspired moment with a towering cake, champagne, and Fern in the pink mini dress, Mirage  — paired with my hand-made lace gloves, stockings and veil.

It felt playful, powerful, and full of that ‘I can do anything’ energy we wanted to channel through this modern queen.

Above all, I hope this shoot inspires brides to express themselves more fully — to take up space, to tell their story, and to celebrate their own beauty in a way that feels true to them. We set out to make something slow, detailed, and rich — something that reflects who we are as artists and what weddings can be when you let go of the rules.
