It’s a strange time of year – according to the calendar, winter should have loosened it’s grip by now and indeed we see signs of the arrival of Spring all around, but the snow still falls and the temperatures are still plummeting and so I’m not feeling convinced that Winter is ready to say goodbye just yet. These images are for those of you dreaming about or planning a glamorous winter wedding. They were sent in by photographer Jo Hastings whose work I love to feature on Love My Dress, and they include gowns by designer Charlotte Simpson who has perfected the modern and elegant bridal glamour style to absolute perfection.
Below, Jo shares more about this shoot…
“As winter is becoming a more and more popular time to marry, we wanted to give couples planning their day inspiration that moves away from the traditional. We wanted to show that winter can be styled into the day by using modern colours and textures. We wanted the shoot to have the feeling of country modern with a bit of a rustic edge. Using natural flowers and foliage draped, enabled us to bring the outside in, as well as using pine cones, cypress and eucalyptus.”

We wanted the dresses to have a modern, stylish feel so worked with Charlotte Simpson, who offers a range of beautiful gowns from her London studio. Neutral tones were used for the make up and a relaxed approach for the hair styling.
The styling was kept simple, taking our inspiration from the variety of greys, blues and neutral interiors at The Kedleston Country House Hotel which was recently restored back to it’s original Georgian state and beautifully designed by Plum & Ashby. Bright candles gave a pop of colour, along with the florals. Sprayed pumpkins, sparkly laser cut name places along with the velvety tones and a variety of textures creates a luxe effect.
