Every May time, I visit London to make my way around the various trade events that take place in the city. It’s a busy time of year for boutique owners and press – boutique owners visit to order new season gowns from their favourite designers – and members of the press visit to identify upcoming seasonal trends in bridal fashion. This year, I visited London with the wonderful Georgina Harrison. Firstly, you’ll be seeing and hearing much more from Georgina in the coming weeks and months – we’re partnered with Georgina as our formal team photographer, which I am absolutely thrilled about (especially as she shoots so beautifully on film, and even better, she lives just 2 miles away from me!).
During our time in London, we had the absolute pleasure of visiting Halfpenny London. Lead by designer Kate Halfpenny, the Halfpenny London team had chosen to hire a room at The Ritz Hotel to showcase Kate’s beautiful new collection of wedding dresses to press and buyers. It was extremely busy whilst we were there, so we were only able to capture a few images of Kate’s gorgeous gowns (save getting completely in the way as the team talked their visitors through each beautifully crafted gown). I also captured enough content to create the little video below.

I love being around Kate – she’s such an exuberant character and is one of those woman I’ve met in my life who always inspires and makes me feel that little bit invincible. Perhaps it’s the way she run’s her business (she’s utterly passionate about making women of all shapes and size look and more importantly feel beautiful), or the way she is always so supportive of her girlfriends and other women in the wedding industry too. Whatever it is, we’ve been firm friends since we met through the world of weddings a few years back, and I’m incredibly proud to now support Kate through both Love My Dress and our wedding directory, Little Book For Brides.
Kate Halfpenny
Kate’s new collection is full of the most divine texture and wonderful, bold design detail that really set her gowns apart and make them such a perfect choice for the modern bride who appreciates style, fashion and craftsmanship.
From extraordinarily soft tulle with embroidered stars, bohemian feathers that hang from and enhance delicate seaming, oversized bows, ultra-chic capes and capelets and the most beautiful gold lace – there are so many exquisite made-you-look style features in this collection that have stolen my heart. I’m also very pleased to say that Kate’s gowns are all made here in England by talented team of pattern cutters, seamstresses and dress fitters at her very own Bloomsbury boutique.
Prices for a gown from the Halfpenny London collection start from £2,000. Halfpenny London also offer a made to measure collection from £3,750. Couture gowns are priced from £5,000. In order to discuss your requirements or to make an appointment, please call the shop on 020-3441-8894 or email [email protected].
If you adore the Halfpenny London brand but don’t have the budget to cover the cost of a gown, I encourage you to sign up to the Halfpenny London mailing list (you’ll find the sign up form at the end of the homepage). The team can then keep you notified of any upcoming sales and other special offers.
You can also connect with Halfpenny London on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter, and explore the real weddings we have featured where the bride chose to wear a Halfpenny London gown here. I also interviewed Kate Halfpenny and featured some images of her beautiful London boutique here, and we shared Kate’s very own wedding to her beloved James here.
If you’re a bride planning on wearing a Halfpenny London gown – we invite you to join the thriving community over at our private Facebook page for brides to be and newlyweds only – lots of members of which are choosing to share images of their dresses and trying on sessions.
