This editorial celebrates a beautiful meeting of French savoir-faire and British elegance, set within the historic walls of The Foundling Museum in London. Captured by photographer Solène Lagant, with floral artistry by Wild Renata Flowers and gorgeous bridal fashion, including a peplum dress with scalloped hem, by the inimitable Wilden London – this modern interpretation of Rococo style feels both romantic and refined.
The creative team set out to reimagine the charm and theatricality of the Rococo era through a contemporary lens, blending two cultures that naturally complement one another. The result is an inspiring editorial that honours heritage while embracing modern design – a dream for couples seeking beauty, detail and meaning in every element of their day.
The words that follow are by Alix of Avane Agency who planned and styled this editorial. Enjoy!
Tucked away in Bloomsbury, The Foundling Museum offers a distinctive and elegant setting for weddings and civil partnerships in the heart of London. This historic venue blends Georgian grandeur with a touch of modern creativity, giving couples the opportunity to exchange vows in one of its exquisite galleries surrounded by art and heritage.
After the ceremony, celebrations can continue in the museum’s stylish Study Studio – a space perfect for dining, dancing and gathering with loved ones. Choosing The Foundling Museum as your wedding venue also helps support its ongoing charitable work with children and young people, making it a place where love stories contribute to something truly meaningful.
Our vision was clear: to blend French savoir-faire with British elegance and build a bridge between two cultures that, in my eyes, complement each other perfectly. We wanted to breathe new life into the Rococo style — to honour its history and refinement while infusing it with a modern twist.
I’ve always been fascinated by this world, its exuberance, its intricate details, its theatrical elegance. Rococo tells a story: of an era, of emotion, of a way of life. That’s exactly what I aim to convey through our work: a bold, joyful, and delicate reimagining of a timeless heritage.
…then came the encounter with Solène, the photographer – it was love at first sight. Not just for her eye, but for her sensitivity and her vision.
From the start, we shared the same desire to create something unique, emotional, and deeply aesthetic. A true match. And when I discovered that the Foundling Museum was also a wedding venue, everything clicked into place.
What could be more fitting for a Rococo wedding than a museum? The setting was simply perfect : the mouldings, the paintings, the atmosphere… every detail echoed the world we had envisioned. The dream backdrop for bringing our shoot to life.
Our intention was to merge French excellence with English tradition, working alongside talented, passionate vendors.
We also wanted to move away from the usual London clichés, red buses and black cabs, and reveal a different side of the city: its elegance, its history, its rich artistic soul.
London has so much to offer couples seeking a refined, meaningful, and unforgettable wedding. This shoot is living proof.
