This modern London wedding took place at Old Marylebone Town Hall, followed by a celebration at The Union Club in Soho. It’s a brilliant example of how a city wedding can feel contemporary, relaxed and full of character without losing its sense of occasion.
The bride chose a chic, 3/4 length Nortier dress and cape – both discovered via the Miss Bush bridal boutique in Surrey. The styling was effortless, elegant and refined – and perfectly in keeping with the the vibe, surroundings and the couple’s easy approach to the day.
The Union Club’s eclectic interiors set the tone for an evening of food, laughter, music and dancing with their closest friends and family.
The day was photographed by the wonderful The Chamberlins, who worked on both digital and 35mm film to create a collection of images that feel atmospheric and full of life. Their work captures the texture and pace of the day perfectly.

The Dress
Nortier, via Miss Bush
I bought my dress from Miss Bush Bridal and I would 100% recommend them. I tried so many dresses at all ends of the budget scale from high street to designer and was getting quite disheartened that I’d end up with a dress that I thought was ‘nice’ but didn’t set my world alight.

And then I went to Miss Bush. They had so much choice, their dresses felt fresh and modern and they were so welcoming and knowledgeable. I knew the second I put my dress on that it was ‘the one’.
Getting married in central London and in a venue with lots of stairs I knew I didn’t want full length but a lot of the shorter dresses I found felt too casual. I loved that my dress still felt bridal without being overly traditional.

I didn’t wear a veil, but I did have a Jesus Peiro cape that felt like a nod to a veil. My shoes were Dune.
My hair and makeup artist was Jen Hawkins – she was brilliant and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend.
My bridesmaids each bought their own dresses, in complementary shades of burgundy, purple and pink.

Our florist’s were Blossom & Threads. I loved their wild flower bouquets and wrapped my bouquet in some lace from my mum’s wedding dress.
James wore a suit by Hackett, Trickers shoes with a Paul Smith tie.

The Ceremony
We had two readings; ‘Everything I know About Love’, by Dolly Alderton, read by my uni girls, and James’ cousin wrote us a beautiful poem.
Our rings were by Steven Stone, who came recommended to James from a client at work. They were brilliant and provided a good consultation without being pushy.
The ceremony was my favourite part of the day – it’s a wonderfully surreal feeling to be surrounded by everyone you love in life, all looking at you with love.
Photography
Our photographers were The Chamberlins and we would 100% recommend them.
I found them on Instagram and loved their modern romantic style. They were brilliant on the day, super personable without being intrusive. I had so many compliments from our guests on how nice they were!
How They Met
We met as housemates 10 years ago in a house share. James and his best friend were living with two girls who were moving out, and me and another girl were moving in.

We were friends for a year before finally admitting that we liked each other, though I think it was obvious from day one. I think everyone was relieved when we finally got together, and even more relieved when we got engaged nine years later – we like to take our time!
We were engaged for a year before getting married.

The Reception
We visited a few venues both in Kent (where I’m from) and London, but we met in London, we live in London and as soon as we walked into The Union Club, we knew it was the perfect venue that felt both relaxed, modern and special.
The Union has an amazing and eclectic art collection already, there was no need for further decoration beyond simple bud vases for the tables.

We hired a bus from The London Bus Company to transport our guests to our reception venue.
We wanted somewhere that felt special but not overly ‘wedding-y’. Loved the relaxed vibe of The Union and OMTH was the perfect formal counterpart to bring a bit of glam.
Catering provided by The Union. We had a jamon and charcuterie at the reception provided by Brindisa Spanish Foods. Our cake was by Le Choux.

Words of Wedded Wisdom
The week of the wedding was stressful, more so than I thought it would be with questions coming at you from all angles.
Try to have all your ‘final finishing touches’ done before then so you can concentrate on getting excited. I didn’t do that and felt quite flustered as a result.
I loved visiting Love My Dress – I found the Real Weddings section especially helpful to try and get a feel for the style I liked, and also to try and find other venues/suppliers in London.
