Milly and Lewis’s Romantic Findon Place Wedding, Inspired by the English Countryside

Beautiful Milly and her beau Lewis tied the knot at St Andrew and St Cuthman Church in the pretty West Sussex village of Findon before continuing their celebrations at the breathtaking Findon Place, a venue surrounded by miles of quaint English countryside.

was photographed by the mega talent that is Jess of Jessica Bevan, a wedding photographer based between Brighton and London and a valued member of the Love My Dress Wedding Directory. Milly wore a bespoke Suzanne Neville dress and her bridesmaids wore the Allegra tie-shoulder dress in sage green by London-based Maids to Measure, another of our recommended Wedding Directory suppliers. The brand has become a firm favourite with Love My Dress brides for its modern silhouettes, fluid satin and thoughtful approach to dressing a wide range of sizes and body shapes.

This charming day combined traditional English elegance with a relaxed approach to celebrating. Abundant garden flowers, pastel shades throughout the reception, softly flickering candlelight and a sailcloth marquee complemented the country house setting, while espresso martinis and a fabulous silver mirror ball awaited guests later in the evening.

We were married at Findon Place, in the village of Findon in West Sussex. From the moment we arrived at Findon Place, we knew it was where we wanted to get married, a home away from home. Nestled in the English countryside, every detail had been so considered, making us feel instantly welcome – we knew it was somewhere truly special.

We also hired a sailcloth Marquee from Tents N Events. It was brand new and looked amazing with all the lights and décor!

The wonderful Rachel Dalton was our wedding planner, and she was truly amazing. She worked seamlessly with both of us, bringing our vision to life. Rachel and her team were incredible on the day – nothing was ever too much to ask.

My lovely dad walked me down the aisle. It was so emotional and a moment I have dreamt about my entire life! The entrance music in the church was Can’t Help Falling in Love by Elvis Presley.

We also had a string quartet (Magio Strings) in the church and it was beautiful.

Our ceremony was taken by Fr. Mark Heather at St Andrew and St Cuthman Church.

We used the traditional wedding vows during our ceremony and we had a couple of readings and poems read by family members, which made the ceremony feel personal and special to us.

We had a reading from the First Epistle to the Corinthians, Chapter 13. We also had You Are the Bubbles by Rachel Bright. Our third reading was Love Like A River by Whitney Hanson.

My sister also sung during the service which was beautiful. She sung ‘This I Promise You’ by Donna Taggart.

Our rings were from G. Collins & Sons, my local jewellers growing up and such a iconic jewellers, with ties to the Royal Family and holding a Royal Warrant.

Lewis and I first hilariously crossed paths on a train, but officially met on Bumble 8 years ago. After six years together, Lewis proposed whilst we were skiing in Val d’Isère at the top of a mountain, it was beautiful.

We were engaged for just over a year before getting married.

After our wedding ceremony, guests were transported to Findon Place, where they were greeted by the incredible backdrop of the house for our confetti photographs.

We hired an old fashioned Bentley from Premier Wedding Carriage. Guests were then guided through the gardens for the drinks reception, where a string quartet performed while champagne and canapés were served.

To create a relaxed and inviting atmosphere, we hired clusters of lounge furniture throughout the gardens for guests to sit back and enjoy the surroundings.

Guests were then welcomed into an elegant sailcloth marquee, softly lit with festoon and fairy lights. Three silver birch trees were installed to disguise the large king poles running through the centre of the marquee, which added a beautiful natural element to the space.

We chose three long banqueting-style tables alongside a traditional top table. The tables were styled with an assortment of bud vases and floral bowls at varying heights to reflect the surrounding country gardens. Glass candlesticks with tall taper candles, paired with tea lights, created a warm and romantic atmosphere throughout the evening.

Following the wedding breakfast, guests moved onto the terrace for a sunset cocktail hour, where espresso martinis were served and we cut the cake.

We moved indoors for the evening party. As evening fell, everyone made their way into the ballroom, which was transformed with dramatic stage lighting and a statement mirror ball suspended from the ceiling.

Our wedding breakfast was catered by Food Glorious Food and our cake was 3 tiers of carrot cake, which is our favourite! We kept the decoration simple with a few flowers as the finishing touch!

Florals were incredibly important to me and made such a statement throughout our day. We worked closely with Sue to bring our vision to life: a quintessential British summer celebration that felt elegant, romantic, and timeless, with a seasonal mix of garden flowers creating a beautifully classic finish.

As for our flowers, the church entrance was adorned with a stunning floral arch framing the doorway, meadow boxes lined the aisle and two large urns sat at the altar.

After the service, Sue and her wonderful team carefully repurposed the church florals at the marquee, placing them at the entrance and behind the top table. Additional urn arrangements decorated the bar, framed the stage, and were dotted throughout Findon Place.

For our stationery, my sisters sister-in-law designed all our stationary and she bought our vision to life perfectly!

Our favours were Picante shots, our favourite cocktail – we sourced them from Lockdown Liquor.

For our gift list, we used The Wedding Shop, who were brilliant. They offer a wonderful range of options on their website, and the team were really helpful with delivery after the wedding, making the whole experience feel seamless.

We had the incredible BEAT Band through ALR Music. I’d previously worked with ALR through my job and already knew I wanted BEAT as our wedding band. They were absolutely amazing and brought so much energy to the evening — the dance floor was full all night.

Our first dance was Yellow by Coldplay, sung by BEAT band. It was the perfect balance to kick off the evening party!

Accept help and give yourself space to breathe: Wedding planning can feel overwhelming at times, so don’t feel like you have to do everything yourself. Lean on your family and delegate where you can (I wish I did this!). On the day itself, build in little moments to step away with your new husband to take it all in, the day honestly goes so fast!

Don’t put so much pressure on yourself to be “perfect”: It’s so easy to get caught up in in the small details but in reality, your wedding day will be perfect in every way.

Looking back, we honestly wouldn’t change anything about the wedding day itself — it all came together perfectly.
