It’s such a joy to share Grant and Mimmi’s modern and elegant Summer wedding at Boath House in Nairn, a celebration that beautifully balances refinement with relaxed, understated style.
Their day was captured with warmth and honesty by our talented friend, Carol-Ann Scott of Harper Scott Photography & Film, whose editorial eye perfectly complemented the quiet grandeur of Boath House. The florals, created by Wild Flower Workshop, reflected that same slightly undone quality, natural, textured and artfully considered.
Mimmi wore a timeless Rebecca Vallance dress for the ceremony, its clean lines and feather details echoing the couple’s minimal, neutral aesthetic. Everything about this wedding, from the muted tones and candlelit tables to the effortless atmosphere, feels intentional, elegant, and quietly beautiful. Enjoy!

Boath House
We chose Boath House because it felt like a natural extension of everything we love about Sessions Arts Club, one of our favorite restaurants, not just for the food but for its effortless balance of history, design, and atmosphere.
With the same team transforming Boath House into a Highland boutique hotel, it had that same understated charm, elegant but relaxed, with a focus on beautiful spaces, thoughtful details, and incredible food. It wasn’t just a venue; it felt like an experience that completely aligned with our style and the wedding we wanted.
We’ve always been drawn to spaces with a sense of history – venues that feel effortlessly elegant, where aged textures, soft lighting, and understated design create an atmosphere that’s both refined and inviting.
There’s something about high ceilings, worn plaster walls, and oversized windows that let in natural light, giving a space character without feeling overly styled.

The Dress
Rebecca Vallance
For the ceremony, I wore a Rebecca Vallance dress and for the evening, I switched into a dress from Giuseppe Di Morabito – there was a feather theme! I ordered everything online from Luisa Via Roma and MyTheresa.
My Rebecca Vallance dress was chosen for its clean, timeless silhouette, elevated by feather detailing at the collar and cuffs. It struck the perfect balance – refined and modern, with just enough texture to feel distinctive without being excessive.
Like everything else in the wedding, it was about effortless elegance, where thoughtful details added depth without overpowering the simplicity at its core.

Wild Flower Workshop in Glasgow has this knack for creating floral designs that feel both natural and artfully composed.
Their arrangements often feature a mix of textures and colors that look like they’ve been gathered straight from a wild meadow, yet there’s a clear attention to detail and design.

This style would perfectly complement a wedding venue with historic charm and understated elegance, adding a touch of organic beauty without feeling too polished or contrived.
Plus, their portfolio showcases a range of seasonal designs, indicating they have a keen sense for using flowers that are in their prime, which adds to the authenticit and freshness of their work.

If you’re aiming for a wedding aesthetic that’s both refined and naturally beautiful, Wild Flower Workshop seems like they’d be a great fit.
My perfume was Le Labo’s ‘Thé Noir’ – it is the first perfume Grant bought me when we were first dating and it’s been my perfume ever since.

The Ceremony
Our ceremony, which was officiated by celebrant Angie Alexandra, included a traditional hand fasting and a reading by Whitney Hanson, delivered by one of Grant’s best friends.
I chose a diamond pavé ring from De Beers.

Our style leans toward things that feel classic but never stuffy – pieces with a quiet luxury, where the beauty is in the details. A pavé band has that same understated sophistication.
The tiny diamonds add a soft shimmer rather than an overwhelming flash, making the ring feel delicate but still deeply considered. It’s not about being bold for the sake of it; it’s about something timeless, refined, and beautifully made.

Photography
Harper Scott Photography has this effortless, editorial quality that feels perfectly suited for a wedding with a historic, understatedly elegant vibe. Their work isn’t overly posed or staged – it’s all about capturing the atmosphere, the little in-between moments, and the way light interacts with a space.
That’s exactly the kind of photography that makes a venue with textured walls, natural light, and a sense of history come alive.

What really stands out is the way they balance moodiness with warmth – there’s depth to their images, but they still feel inviting and intimate.
The framing, the rich but natural tones, and the way they capture movement all make their work feel timeless. It’s not just about getting the “perfect shot,” but about telling the story of the day in a way that feels real and cinematic at the same time.
For a wedding in a space with that worn-in, effortlessly stylish aesthetic, their style just fits. The photos would feel like an extension of the venue itself, refined but not fussy, emotional but not overdone.
If you love that blend of artistry and authenticity, they’d be an amazing choice.

The Reception
The décor was simple and considered, letting the venue speak for itself. Candlelight filled the space, creating a soft, warm glow. Linen-draped tables, wild floral arrangements, and candlelight set the tone, while a focus on simple, high-quality food and classic cocktails made the experience feel effortless rather than over-designed.
It wasn’t about opulence but about creating a setting that felt natural and atmospheric – an extension of the kind of spaces we’re drawn to in everyday life. The result was something intimate and understated, with a beauty that didn’t try too hard.

Tables were dressed in white linen, slightly textured for a relaxed feel. Florals were minimal and loosely arranged, seasonal blooms in soft, natural tones, placed in a way that felt effortless rather than overly styled.
Everything blended naturally into the space. Nothing felt excessive or staged, it was all about creating a warm, inviting atmosphere with just a few well-chosen details.

The dinner was our favourite part of the day, because we finally got to relax and be around our friends and family (plus the food was amazing).
ARD Bakery’s cakes fit seamlessly into the kind of wedding aesthetic we’ve been drawn to – one that feels effortlessly stylish, rich in texture, and beautifully understated. Just like a venue with classic architecture and natural light, or florals that feel wild and organic rather than overly manicured, their cakes have that same sense of relaxed refinement.

They don’t feel overly polished or traditional, but instead have a sculptural, artistic quality that makes them feel at home in a space with history and character.
Their use of texture and colour mirrors the muted, natural palette we’ve been inspired by – subtle, earthy tones, soft edges, and designs that look almost like paintings. Whether it’s a minimal, modern cake with delicate brushstrokes or a more abstract, freeform design, their work feels personal and intentionally crafted, rather than just decorative.

And beyond how it looks, the way ARD Bakery approaches flavour aligns with the whole philosophy of this wedding – quality over excess, simple but refined, with a focus on beautiful ingredients.
It’s the kind of cake that doesn’t just sit there looking pretty but actually feels like an extension of the whole experience – thoughtful, elegant, and effortlessly cool.
Evening & Dancing
Our first dance was to ‘Baby’, by Donnie & Joe Emerson. Having our friends DJ at our wedding felt like the most natural choice – it aligned perfectly with the kind of atmosphere we want to create.
Just like everything else in our wedding, from the venue to the flowers to the cake, we’re drawn to things that feel personal, effortless, and intentional rather than overly polished or staged.

Words of Wedded Wisdom
Maybe we would have gotten a wedding planner as it was pretty intense doing everything ourselves!
Having just been through it, the best advice we can give is to focus on what feels right for you, not what’s expected. It’s easy to get caught up in trends, traditions, or what a wedding is ‘supposed’ to look like, but the most memorable weddings are the ones that feel effortless, intentional, and personal.
Weddings don’t need to be overproduced to be beautiful. They just need to reflect you. Keep it simple, stay true to your style, and don’t let the small things stress you out. The best moments are the ones that happen naturally.
